1 Minute
Driving up to see paw on Father’s Day we saw a severe car wreck on the highway. It happened one mile in front of us. Traffic came to a screeching halt and an assortment of fire trucks, ambulances, and police cars came whizzing by on the shoulders. It took us ten minutes to travel that one mile to the accident scene. I don’t know what happened or how many were injured, but by the sheer number of emergency vehicles it must have been tragic. I keep repeating to myself, “One mile.” If jue, SSDiabolique, Fairy Princess(LC), and I would have left the apartment one minute earlier, we would have been at ground zero. We would have been caught up in the midst of tragedy. Perhaps I’m being overly dramatic, but it just goes to show how lucky anybody is to be alive. There are so many things out of our control that it’s only by pure chance that we continue to live.
