Coffee Crew
G$’s post-wedding party was all right. It was good to see some of the old high school crew that made the trip from out of state. Unfortunately, brooklyn wasn’t able to attend. I tried to call him, but his phone was all whacked out. I eventually talked to him Sunday evening and gave him this blog address. So what up, brooklyn?
I’ve kinda been tossing an idea around in my vapid noggin, and this weekend of seeing old friends has made me dwell on it more so. Lately I’ve been pretty sorry as far as keeping in touch with my friends. Last weekend was the first time I’ve seen G$ in months, and I haven’t seen brooklyn in more months than that (although I do talk to him every other week or so). I should set up a reoccurring time and place to hang out with my buds. You know, like the first Saturday or Sunday of every month at 10:00AM at Stella’s Coffee House. My main objective is to make time for my friends so that we can sit back and chill; hence, I want to stay away from the bar scene. I want the time to be convenient and the place to be neutral. Hell, what are people doing on a weekend morning at 10:00AM? Nothing, really. It’s not so early that anyone is going to complain about getting up at some ungodly hour, and it’s not late enough in the day to interfere with other plans/errands/chores. I’m still hung up on the frequency of the event. Once a week or once a month? The answer to this question lies in the number of attendees. If I have an open invitation to 20 friends, then I’ll set this up for every week in an attempt to dilute the crowd. If, on the other hand, I’m shooting for 5 friends, then once a month is sufficient. Currently, I’m leaning to the larger crowd and including gym friends, old school friends, co-worker friends, family, etc. Will the social circles blend? I think so.
I want to approach the “Coffee Crew” with a no-hassle, no-commitment attitude. If nobody shows up then I can have a relaxing cup of coffee and people watch… or read a book… or read the newspaper. Regardless, I’m going to be there.
I definitely need to ponder this a little more, but I want to make next weekend the inaugural day… the kick-off… the beginning of an era. Oh, yeah. Coincidentally, this is my birthday weekend, so what an appropriate way to start my 27th year of life. I’ll need to cement the specifics and invite people. It’s odd how ideas start to unknot if I sit down and write them out.
No sleep ‘till Brooklyn!
