..:sniff:..
Who the fuck gets sick in July? It's the middle of summer! This blows hole. I’m sitting at work sniffing and hacking. I’m hunched over my computer looking like the model employee that I am: Muffed up hair, dark bags under my eyes, chaffed red nose, three-day unshaved scruff, Led Zeppelin t-shirt, faded blue jeans, white socks, and black Birkenstock clogs. I’m emitting enough grunts, sniffs, and coughs that biblical lepers would swing wide from my cubicle. Blah! At least I’m getting better.

Independence Day turned out to be kinda fun despite my infirmed state. SSDiabolique, Ritsuko(LC), and I went to see Men in Black II and then went to Ruby Hill to catch some firework displays. Here’s the mandatory blog movie review of MIB2: Mediocre. Now that that is out of the way, I can move on to fireworks. Ruby Hill is a decent sized hill outside of downtown that overlooks the city of Denver. Fireworks aren’t actually launched at Ruby Hill, instead we were treated to a panoramic view of the city as different organization and locations blasted colorful explosions in the sky. We saw four separate firework shows simultaneously. In all actuality, Ruby Hill is kind of a ghetto way to spend the Fourth of July. Here are the reasons people go to Ruby Hill: They don’t want to pay any money, they are lazy, and they want to avoid crowds. Please note, that I do have an excuse for going to Ruby Hill… I am sick. We still had fun, though. The one bonus to Ruby Hill is the children’s playground at the summit. Ritsuko was able to keep herself thoroughly amused while waiting for the fireworks. We further celebrated by listening to a collection of pseudo-patriotic song: OutKast’s American Dream and B.O.B., followed by Jimi’s rendition of The Star Spangled Banner, then John Cougar’s Jack and Diane (this was my Springsteen substitute since SSDiabolique is not a fan of his), Steve Miller’s Livin’ in the USA and Space Cowboy, Copeland’s Rodeo, and we finished the night off with Don McLean’s American Pie.

The other day we were watching Those Who Hunt Elves and every time Junpei would do something stupid, Ritsuko (LC, not the actual character in the show) would jump and say, “Look Daddy, it’s you!” At first I kinda ignored her, sometimes she calls me Buttercup or Sailor Mercury or whatever other cartoon character. Then I started noticing the physical similarities between Junpei and me. We have the same haircut, short on the sides and spiky-messy on top. Same deep-set eyes framed by thin angled eyebrows. And in an exaggerated manner, same facial structure as far as cheeks, nose, and chin. I am Junpei!… Except I will never have those impossibly broad anime shoulders, but I can dream.

I also received more birthday present; these were from Grammy. One white bowling style shirt that has red flames springing up from the hem and kick-ass blue dragons adorning the breasts and back. A sleeveless t-shirt with another dragon coiled on the front. And I also got a pair of black workout short. Thank you, Grammy.

Shibby!
