Vanilla Sistah

Saturday we went grocery shopping at our usual Albertsons. Vanilla Sistah(LC) was perched in the child seat and I was pushing her up and down the aisles when we passed a black guy with cornrolls. Vanilla Sistah immediately got excited like she was seeing Santa Clause and with a big smile she shouted, “Hi Ghost Dog!” The guy looked at Vanilla Sistah quizzically and responded, “What’s up Vanilla Sistah?” It was the briefest of encounters, and before I realized what had happened the guy had turned his cart down another aisle and Vanilla Sistah was reaching for a box of Pop-Tarts.

The odd thing is Vanilla Sistah really likes Ghost Dog: Way of the Samurai, it’s like her version of Old Yeller. When Forest Whitaker’s character dies so nobly at the end, Vanilla Sistah gets really broken up. She even likes the majority of the songs on the soundtrack produced by the RZA.
