My GirlsYesterday was a big day for my girls… Rug Burn(LC) came home after her first sleep over at a friend’s house. I tell you, SSDiabolique and I were more nervous about it than Rug Burn was. In fact the little Rug Burn almost cried when I picked her up. Here I am expecting a phone call at 11:00PM saying, “Can you come pick up Rug Burn, she’s crying out for you and her mom.” Instead Rug Burn almost sheds tears at the thought of leaving her friend. Later that day we signed up Rug Burn for Early Childhood Education (ECE) at Lincoln Elementary. Then, Rug Burn and I sat down for an hour and indulged in a “project.” We constructed a drum set out of an assortment of paper/plastic cups and a couple of box lids, fun to make not fun to hear. Last night when SSDiabolique and I sat down to watch Clash of the Titans all we could focus on was the thud-thwack-crack-thud coming from Rug Burn’s bedroom. I had premonitions of SSDiabolique awaking this morning to the same percussive cacophony, but apparently Rug Burn didn’t wake up until 9:30AM-ish.SSDiabolique finally got a driver’s license. That’s right she passed the driven test… like they ever fail anybody. And so the autumnal plan is coming into focus: SSDiabolique driving me to work at 6:30AM then taking Rug Burn to school at 8:30AM only to pick her up at noon and then pick me up around 3:00PM. The SSDiabolique Taxi Service is courtesy of a car with a dysfunctional engine light. It’s enough to make me ponder the financial burden of a second car. Blech. The cool thing is now SSDiaboliques can take the wheel and cruise legally. Baby you can drive my car. Yes I'm gonna be a star. Baby you can drive my car, and baby I love you. |
