Let’s recap…
Saturday was the first time El-Sea had a friend stay the night. Her 9 year old friend, Lucy, played videogames with her and then they watched The Wizard of Oz. I noticed that El-Sea’s hand-eye coordination is developing quite well. I think I’m going to add “ps2 controler” to her Christmas list. I only have one lonely item on the list right now: Nerf football. SSDiabolique and I camped out in the living room watching Suspiria, which was ranked #4 on MSN’s top 10 scariest movies list. The electronica movie score, the 1977 special effects, and the partial dubbing made Suspiria quite unnerving. The movie had that “Spaghetti Western” feel to it. It was filmed overseas and some of the actors didn’t speak English so they read their lines phonetically and then English-speaking voice actors were dubbed over the lip movements. When the synthesizers are pumping their droning tones… when the murder victims are bleeding Sunswept Coral nail polish… when the antagonist’s lips move but the lazy words come half a second too late… that is when Suspiria freaks me out. It’s a good movie to check out with Halloween only a couple of days away.

Sunday is now to be renamed Coffeeday. I drank enough of the bean brew to last me the week. First I had coffee with Lucy’s dad, Stipan. That was trippy. We sat and watched home videos from his native Croatia as we sipped Russian style java. Then I had coffee at Stella’s with SSDiabolique, El-Sea, and the Anti-Shenry. Then we went to my Aunt Gloria’s house and had lunch. After lunch I had a mug of coffee with my sister, Jue. Then after dessert I had more coffee, because it goes so well with chocolate cake. Yeah, Coffeeday is all about the black nectar ‘cause nothing else interesting happened.

Monday I had to zip out to Pueblo for work. Zip? Pueblo is 100-plus miles south of Denver. It took me 2 hours to get down there and two hours to get back, which (do the math) left me working in Pueblo for 4 hours… minus lunch… let’s call it 3 hours of productivity yesterday. I guess 3 hours of work is fairly standard for me, although I’d prefer to be sitting at my desk surfing and blogging instead of trapped in a car listening to the crappy radio. Here’s the kicker: When I get to Pueblo the guy I’m suppose to hook up with says, “I tried to call you to stop you from coming down today. The computer upon which you need to install the software hasn’t arrived yet.” It gets better: The guy called me at 8:30AM! I’m supposed to meet him at 9:00AM and he calls me at 8:30AM. Did he forget about the 100-miles that separates Denver and Pueblo? Hey buddy, your call came 2-hours too late. I salvaged what I could of the trip by going over some other business that I could’ve done via phone or e-mail. Oh well, that’s the government for you.

I was supposed to go back to Pueblo today for a follow-up. Screw that, I’ll wait until they get their stupid computer until I travel down to Pueblo again. With the way the snow is coming down today, I lucked out because it would be a miserable commute.

I’m taking tomorrow off because El-Sea has a dentist appointment. She has a big-ass screaming cavity in her tiny 4-year old mouth. I figure if big-ass screaming daddy –and I will be screaming when they bust out that intimidating Novocain needle– is there with her maybe she’ll feel secure. Of course there is the possibility that she may catch my contagious hysteria. Perhaps I should just stay home and watch daytime tv.

That’s life as of now.
