Happy birthday to Jimi Hendrix who would be 60 today. 60! The mystique of dying young is eerily alluring. I envision Jimi as a 20-something youth. While other icons of his genre age and wither, Jimi is eternally 27. Fuck, I’m 27. How will people remember Pete Townshend, Paul McCartney, or Mick Jagger, as swaggering vibrant anti-authoritarian youths or wrinkled elder statesmen of rock&roll who can’t let go of their past?
