Weekend

Dinner and a movie
Friday El-Sea spent the night at her friend’s house and Silver Queen and I were freed to live like the swinging youngsters we are. Of course, we blew the opportunity. No downtown scene for us. No clubs, bars, or hip juke joints. All of those ideas just sounded like too much trouble. C’mon, staying up past midnight is hard enough. Ah well, we’re responsible adults now, and as such we opted for dinner and a movie.

We dined dim sum style at a cozy little Chinese restaurant. After chatting with the owner, I was suppressed to learn that the recent SARS epidemic in China is hurting the business of small Chinese restaurants here in Denver. Odd. Even odder is that I found five fortunes stuffed in my cookie. One for each personality, I guess.

~ You have a strong handle on reality
~ You have a classic sense of style
~ Your smiles are an oasis in a desert of grimness
~ The current year will bring you much happiness
~ Your next project will require a creative twist
~ You will contract SARS from eating at this restaurant

Those fortunes are super-weak, except for the last one and I made that one up. And to think, quite recently Travis at Hairy Dog opened a fortune cookie only to find no fortune inside. Well, Travis, you can have all of mine, except the SARS one.

Our movie of choice was Confidence. Actually, it was more like Confidence chose us. We walked into the theatre and it was the only movie playing anytime soon. Thanks to my cousin who works in the theatre, the movie was free. All in all Confidence was a nice con flick that kept me guessing about who was duping who.

Facial Hair
Fast breaking news: Shenry is morphing his trademark sideburns and soul patch into a full goatee with chinstrap. (A chinstrap is a thin line of beard that follows the jaw line and connects the burns to the goatee.)

Kicking it
Knocked the ol’ hacky sack around the park yesterday with SQ and Tiff. The last time I kicked a little ball around like that was two years ago. Fun was had by all and now I am totally hyped for summer. (Come mid-July, ask me if I’m still in love with summer.) Did I ever mention that the first time I met SQ was in a hippie hack circle of love? I’ll pull together a couple of paragraphs about that day.

Good weekend.
