coda: a vote for me is a vote for coolA week and a half ago the world was shocked when I was nominated for the Employee Appreciation Award. Indeed, I was one of five placed on a ballot for the general unappreciated and unproductive employee populous to vote upon. As a refresher, I shall re-reprint my proclamation of nomination as it appeared on the ballot:While working for the Pavement Management and Design Program, Stephen was very helpful to the Asphalt Program. He was able to retrieve and interpret PMS data for use in comparing EuroLab test results to actual road conditions. This will aid the Asphalt Program in writing a performance spec for the Hamburg and French rutters. He is also a living model of the ever-changing fashion scene in Colorado and helps to dispel the myth that all engineers are geeks! Just most of us are geeks. The commoners have cast their lots and their voice has been heard. Ladies and Gentlemen, I present to you your Appreciated Employee: Shenry! All hail, all hail! I won, the man who spent four-hours helping the Asphalt Program’s Hamburg and French rutters by interpreting PMS data. I won, the man whose nomination is padded with two sentences pertaining to the clothes he wears as opposed to his intuitive engineering abilities. I won, the man whose campaign slogan was "A vote for me is a vote for cool." Yes, money is involved with this award as well as a complimentary appreciation lunch that all nominees attended earlier today. I don’t know how much money is involved, but they said that the check is in the mail. The generic Certificate of Achievement that I was presented claims: Your outstanding performance will have a long lasting effect on CDOT. Thank you for your dedication and effort. What have we learned today, kiddies? Style beats substance any day of the week. |
