Registration for the Alferd Packer Trail Challenge starts today. I remember finishing the race last year and gasping, “Fun once, but never again!” With the passing of time, the memory of pain has faded and I am oddly contemplating doing it again. I can beat my 03:07:36 time from last year. Placing 155th may have been satisfactory at the time, but in hindsight I’m seriously disappointed with myself.

Maybe. If I can find a wingman I might do it.

Who is free March 13, 2004?

I need somebody who is willing to go out there and push me. If I say, “Hey let’s downshift and cruise for the next mile,” I need you to slap my ass and take off like a lightening bolt. Force me to keep up. In return, if you hesitate at the frigid river crossings I’ll be there to push you in and drag you through the glacier runoff. We’ll work hard and train our asses off. We’ll forge a bulletproof bond of camaraderie that will linger our entire life. We’ll conquer nature and make her our bitch!

And, if you’re coming from out of town you can crash at my place.
