virtual vacation
Join me on a virtual webcam vacation in Colorado and allow me to be your local tour guide. Why don't you unpack you suitcases downstairs? The couch folds out to a bed, albeit not a very comfortable one. You can claim that bathroom by the stairs as yours for the duration of your stay. I set out fresh towels and scrubbed the shower yesterday. Chow on any of the food in the kitchen. You know:
Mi casa es su casa and all that jazzamatazz.
We'll head out early tomorrow morning so get some rest, okay.
The instersection of Speer Boulevard and Colfax Avenue is the webcam closest to home. This picture is a painful memory; it's the intersection where the clutch went ka-pooey on the VW Golf. Ah, that was a fun day. Thankfully, this intersection is less than a mile from the homestead. |
I love this webcam. It's a great shot of the downtown skyline set against the front range of the Rocky Mountains. Let's come back later tonight and check the sunset. |
This view is from my office… okay, not exactly… but this camera is mounted on top of the building that's across the street from my office. That counts for something right? |
The Wynkoop Brewpub is significant for two reasons. This where we had our last dinner with Rach and Matthew. Sigh. Good times… good times. And two, my bud, Ken, lives in this building. I bet if we watch long enough, we'll actually see Ken and his fiancé, Olivia. |
Check this out, we're three exits away from home. I can't count the number of times I drive this section a week (mostly because I can't count past 19). If you keep your eyes pealed on this webcam for the next 48-hours, I swear you will see our purple/blue VW golf chug by. Check back often and you may even see us pulled over at the side of the road with out hazard lights on… that purple Golf is on it's last leg. |
Now there is a sight to behold, a corner of Mile High Stadium where the mighty-mighty Denver Broncos play. I shouldn't even be thinking about football… there's --like-- five more months until preseason. |
So, I've bored you long enough with city views and other urban crap. This is Pikes Peak, which is over 14,000 feet above sea level. The great thing about Pikes Peak is that a very drivable road exists that will take you all the way to the top. No hiking or climbing required. Of course with the use of conveniently placed webcams, you don't even need to drive. They have eight cams up on the summit so check out the views. |
Perhaps you like to ski? Personally, I hate skiing. I can still appreciate the scenic mountain landscapes, though. |
Here is a view from my dad's 'hood. Allow me to clarify that this is not my dad's webcam. My dad doesn't have a webcam, nor a computer, nor a phone line, nor an electrical outlet. This is somewhere around his general area, which is about as far north as you can get in Colorado without stumbling into Wyoming. |
Check it out, the Continental Divide! If you piss directly on the summit of the Divide, half of your urine will trickle hundred of miles to the Pacific Ocean. The rest of your piss will end up in the Atlantic Ocean, most likely via the Golf of Mexico. Ain't it exciting? Even more exciting is this camera located on the Continental Divide just west of the city of Boulder. The site lets you point the camera wherever you want. Fun, fun, fun. |
I could go on and on. Instead, each picture is linked to it's host site and
this site contains a comprehensive catalog of worthy Colorado cams.
