Sunday night, Brook and I were hanging out watching the Pistons steal game 1-of-7 from the Lakers, when Brook started brainstorming ways his broke student ass could obtain money without actually getting a job. After mulling over several versions of the infamous pyramid scam and ruling out male prostitution, Brook said, "If only I could open a dojo and teach karate."

I signed up as Brook's first student… and then I signed Sherry up as his second student and Lori as student #3.

Today begins my decade long journey for a Kenpo black belt under the expert tutelage of Master Brook Le. My training ground, depending upon the weather, will be his basement apartment or his back yard. Stoner-boy will be instructing me in the finer points of Karate as influenced by his unique Cannabis Style.

I'm ready. Let the training begin.
