74-monthsToday I received a mega-serving of cold reality. Since I recently passed the Professional Engineer's Exam, I decided I should update my resume, which was rapidly becoming obsolete anyway. I built a little timeline to trace my meager work history and transposed that timeline into easy-to-swallow bullet points for the resume. Then, as any good engineer would do, I back calculated my total experience. How sad would it look if my engineering resume proclaimed 20-years of experience, meaning I started my first engineering job when I was in 3rd grade? So, I added up all the months of experience and they totaled 74. This seamed a bit high. Isn't 74-monthes like more than 6-years? That's impossible; I graduated college in 1998 and that was only… only… shit! I've been out of college for over 6-years. Wha?! No way. Where did all that time go? |
