polypticks

Was it just me or was watching last night's presidential election coverage the equivalent of smoking crack? I could not tear my bloodshot eyes away from the stupid tv. I sat motionless on my couch way past my bedtime waiting for each gray state to light up blue or red. It was like waiting for my next bump. C'mon man, I need it. Where is it? Red or blue? I need to know. I'm sinking fast. Dan, Peter, and Tom you gotta help me out.

I wasn't going to say anything about last night's election. It's done. It's over. The majority has spoken and so goes the city, state, and nation. I understand that this country is a democratic republic and I'm cool with that. Then I hit up my daily reads and a couple friends left me a bit inspired. So I blame you guys --Matt, Kristie, Nicole, tj, and of course Your Role Model-- for this half-formed half-effort of a half-thought out half post. I almost decided to use only half the keyboard, bt te ts st wd ae sese f read t wt r eft ee (trans: but then this post would only make sense if you read it with your left eye). Whatever.

I've always known that a lot of people in this world are knobs. Last night's election proved that here, specifically in Denver, the knobs are in the majority… way in the majority. Obviously, I'm basing knob status on my personal political and social views, but how else am I suppose to go about it?

Check out the pathetic knobishness of it all:
  • CO Amendment 34 - Something to do with residential builder liability: I voted "yes" but the knobs (71%) voted "no".
  • CO Amendment 35 - Increasing the state tobacco tax: I vote "no" but the knobs (60%) voted "yes".
  • CO Amendment 36 - Splitting CO's electoral votes per the popular vote: I voted "yes" but the knobs (66%) voted "no".
  • CO Amendment 37 - Mandating utilities derive a certain amount of power from renewable resources: I voted "yes" and by some fluke of the voting machine this passed at 52%.
  • Denver Referendum 4A - Increasing tax to fund ill-conceived lightrail: I voted "no" but the knobs (57%) voted "yes".
  • Denver Referendum 4B - Extending an expired cultural tax to fund zoos, museums, and other crapola: I voted "no" but the knobs (65%) voted "yes".
This place is overrun by knobs.

Other random thoughts:

Colorado as a whole confuses me. Last night, on the local level, the state senate and house were flooded with democrat after democrat. Yet on the national level Colorado pulls for a republican president. No consistency. I don't get it.

Mississippi, Montana, Oregon, Arkansas, Georgia, Kentucky, Michigan, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, and Utah… this is just my take on politics, but the government should not dictate morality. Leave belief-based mandates to religion and philosophy. Yeah, I'm talking about the bans on gay marriage. What else would I be talking about?

Who would make a good president? I'll start by ruling out anybody who wants to be president. Usually the motives behind wanting the presidency are poisonous… ego, power, control, nookie.

Who would make a good vice prez? That's easy. I would make the best vice president of the U.S. Anybody out there need a running mate in '08?

I've been peeing a lot today. It's seriously weird and freaky. I bet I've dumped several gallons down the drain. I trek to the urinals every 15-minutes. Hell, I gotta piss right now, but I really want to finish this post.
